Hello, and Welcome to the Plants Part of this blog! I'm here to tell you about what is happening to the plants in this world when we litter.
Plants are living things, just like people. Who wants to get trash stuck in your arms? Trees are one thing to think about. Imagine you're walking through a nice clean park. Then, you see a family having a nice little picnic. Not so bad, huh? Looks like they just went to the grocery store and got some things to eat. Oh no! There are plastic grocery bags. I know it doesn't seem bad, but it is, listen. They leave. Totally fine, right? Wrong. This is NOT OKAY! They left their grocery bags! They took everything except their grocery bags! Now do you see what's happening? Well, I hope so, because it gets worse. You don't know how litter affects the environment, so you just leave the bags there. The next day you come back for a nice walk and everything's fine; the family isn't there, it's peaceful, then you see something. Up there, in that tree! Caught on the branches! The family's plastic grocery bags. Now, you read an article on what trash does to plants, so you get really worried. The tree is too high! you keep telling yourself. How do I get it down? See? this is what happens to the environment. You can't breath without trees and all that trash is like having no trees at all. Also, who wants to see all this trash in the beautiful outdoors?
